Why Choose a Detox Lifestyle?

Detox… Where to start? There are so many options that it can make your head spin. The first step is deciding that you want to move toward a cleaner lifestyle. At first, detox can be a pain in the butt – literally sometimes. Choosing it for the right reasons will pull you through any initial discomfort.

Why does one choose to detox and to live a clean lifestyle?

  • Energy
  • Clarity
  • Optimism
  • Gratitude
  • Joy
  • Weight Loss
  • Confidence
  • Increased Intuition
  • Inner Peace

ForestHow’s that for a list! Over the next few weeks I will explain how detoxing provides a quality of life that nothing else can. You can have all the money in the world, be at your ideal weight, have the perfect partner and still feel lethargic, pessimistic and ungrateful.

Detoxing – releasing everything that you don’t need – makes room for the most precious gift of all: Life. Life itself cannot be bought, achieved through surgery or given to us by another. It is a gift that we receive naturally when we choose to let go of everything that weighs it down and blocks its flow.

More on this later, but hopefully this has you thinking DETOX!

What is a Detox Diet?

leafA detox diet is a change in eating regime that enables you to clean your body from the inside by purifying it and removing poisons and toxins. That is why detox diets are also known as cleansing diets.  The end result is that your body looks and feels rejuvenated and pure again.  Detox diets usually involve all natural foods and drinks that help clean out important organs such as the brain, liver and blood.

Why a Detox Lifestyle?

A detox lifestyle is a holistic way of life incorporating a natural dietary plan designed to have a detoxifying effect and remove harmful poisons and toxins from your body. They are also know as Cleansing Diets. The food that we consume is often contaminated by various ingredients that are not necessary, including flavor enhancers, food colorings, and preservatives. Detox Diets are usually based on natural foodstuffs that enhance the functioning of the body including the blood, lymph, pancreas, kidneys, and liver. All processed foods are usually eliminated.

Detox Diets usually take the form of organic, unprocessed foods and drinks. They usually include organic vegetables and fruits – along with certain herbs, nuts, seeds and grains. Ample fresh water in an important part of the cleansing process.

Things to avoid include caffeinated drinks such as coffee and tea as well as alcohol such as wine and beer. Tobacco should also be avoided. All processed foods should also be avoided as part of your detox lifestyle.
